UIC WC's Writing Day

UIC Writing Center’s Writing Day 2011:
DOCUMENT
Call for Contributions
Date: Thursday, March 31, 2011
Location: 105 Grant Hall, University of Illinois at Chicago

Writing Day is a symposium on writing and education that the UIC
Writing Center hosts annually. This year, the theme is DOCUMENT,
a word that demands action. The symposium will feature
contributions by students.
At the Writing Center, our mission is to create collaboration that
empowers students. We acknowledge that oppression continues and
aim to negotiate interpersonal conversations across differences in
gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and religious belief. We
work toward productive action and change. Writing Day enacts our
theory.
Writing Day is free. It is a day where students can come together
and learn from one another, network and teach and inspire their
instructors. Students, come share your knowledge and experience
with us.

We invite work that promotes social justice in the classroom —
whether at the elementary, high school or college level.
If you are a student interested in presenting work (research, art,
poetry) or if you are an instructor interested in presenting work
with your students, please email Lydia Saravia,
lydia.saravia@gmail.com, by March 1st.
Send a brief description (about 150-words) on what you hope to
present. Provide your name (or the names of the people you are
presenting with), institutional affiliation, and email.
