*Job Description -- Graduate Research Assistant Center for Research on Women and Gender* The UIC Center for Research on Women and Gender is seeking applications for the position of Research Assistant (RA). The RA will assist with the evaluation of WISEST (Women in Science and Engineering System Transformation). The goal of WISEST is to increase the number, participation, and leadership status of women---majority and minority-- in academic science and engineering through institutional transformation at UIC. The goal is supported by five strategies: (1) warm the climate and decrease the isolation of STEM women faculty, (2) pilot initiatives to attract and recruit minority women faculty, (3) transform STEM departments to foster diversity and women's leadership, (4) promote women's scholarship and teaching, and (5) improve the ability to track and report on gender equity in STEM. *Responsibilities: * · Update and maintain a longitudinal relational database using excel. · Triangulate data from different sources to update the WISEST database · Use data to generate reports and charts and assist with the preparation of presentations · Assist with implementation and analysis of a faculty survey · Prepare IRB applications *Preferred Qualifications: * * Master's degree or currently working towards a degree at UIC in public health, sociology, psychology or similar field. * Proficiency in conducting data analysis using SPSS or SAS. * Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications. * Experience with Survey Monkey or other online survey tools. * Excellent writing skills * Excellent organizational skills. * Ability to work independently with minimal assistance. Appointment: Fall 2011 with potential for continuation in winter.
