My name is Diana Soriano, I am bilingual, bicultural, and I am a UIC Alumna. I advise students in the College of Business Administration and the College of Education. When I am not in the office, I immerse myself in the UIC environment and enjoy exploring the city of Chicago by attending concerts, lectures, and cultural events.

On/Off Campus Volunteer Opportunities!

The office of Student Leadership Development & Volunteer Services has two
wonderful volunteer opportunities organized for January!

OFF Campus Opportunity:
Do have a free Sunday evening?  Help prepare and serve dinner at a homeless
shelter!

What:  Volunteers will help prepare and serve a meal to those staying at the
REST shelter. 

When:  Sunday, January 30th from 8pm-10pm

Where: We will be meeting at REST   -   941 W Lawrence Ave  -  Chicago, IL
60640

REST has sheltered tens of thousands of clients, served over a million meals
and housed over one thousand people.  Their mission is to work
collaboratively to provide safe, quality, permanent and emergency housing
and social services to men and women who are homeless.

On CAMPUS Opportunity:
Will you be on campus January 31st?  Got some free time?  Help assemble
health promotion kits!  

What:  Volunteers will help to assemble health promotion kits to be
distributed by COIP outreach workers. 

When:  Monday, January 31st  (sign up for one or more 2 hour time slots:
10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm)

Where:  UIC College of Public Health-Ashland/Taylor
 (we will be meeting in front of the Jane Addams Hull House 15 minutes
before each session and walking over together).

The mission of the Community Outreach Intervention Projects (COIP) is to
provide people with information and resources to prevent and help treat
infectious diseases, especially HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted
diseases, and hepatitis, and to gain knowledge necessary to develop and
evaluate programs to prevent the spread of these diseases.
